Compare reuse and collection options
If a sofa is suitable for reuse, find a recipient who has confirmed condition and collection requirements before arranging transfer. Otherwise compare the relevant council option with a private bulky collection. Check current local arrangements directly, including eligibility and where the item must be presented. A private indoor collection can be assessed where carrying the sofa outside is impractical.
Measure the whole removal route
Give the collector the sofa dimensions and photographs of doors, stairs and tight turns. Corner sofas, recliners and sofa beds can have different construction and handling requirements. Do not assume the team can remove windows or damage a doorway to get the item out. Any dismantling should be assessed and included in the quote.
Declare condition and associated items
Tell the provider about damage, contamination or additional furniture. Upholstered items can need particular treatment routes, so avoid an unsupported promise that every sofa will be recycled or donated. Keep cushions and components included in the item list. The sofa-removal service page explains how to request an assessment for your property and postcode.
