A record of a business waste transfer
A waste transfer note records relevant information when non-hazardous business waste changes hands. It supports the traceability of the material and the parties involved. It is different from a simple price quotation or a photograph of a cleared room. Ask the provider what record applies to your collection and how you will receive it.
Provide an accurate waste description
The description should reflect the actual material, rather than using a vague phrase that hides electrical, heavy or special waste. Give the collector the information needed to classify and describe the load appropriately. If your collection changes after the original enquiry, update the provider before loading so its records can reflect the agreed material.
Recognise when another record may be needed
Special waste can need different documentation and a suitable authorised route. Do not assume an ordinary transfer note covers every type of material. For current Scottish requirements and retention rules, consult SEPA’s official guidance and the collecting operator. Keep the relevant records with the business’s collection and accounting files, identifying the job or premises where helpful.
