Describe items before choosing a van fraction
A useful load estimate begins with a list of bags, furniture and other items. Add photographs from several angles so the provider can see the whole pile. Terms such as quarter load or full load depend on the vehicle and agreed limits. Ask the collector to explain what its description means rather than comparing fractions from different companies as identical quantities.
Remember that weight can limit a load
Rubble, soil, tiles and other dense material can reach a vehicle’s permitted weight before filling its space. Describe those items separately and give approximate quantities where known. Do not infer that a partly empty vehicle can take additional heavy waste. The provider must assess a suitable vehicle and route for the actual material.
Include the work needed to reach the vehicle
The same pile can require different labour if it is upstairs, behind a long garden path or beside an accessible driveway. State the location of every item and any dismantling needed. Use the load-size description as one part of the quotation, alongside access, material and finish. The prices page explains the other factors to include when requesting a written estimate.
